About Memphis Neighborhoods - Midtown Memphis
In the 1900's, Midtown Memphis was the first residential area outside
the core of downtown Memphis.
The areas of Midtown Memphis are roughly bounded by I-255 on the West,
East Parkway on the East, Vollintine on the North and Southern on the South.
Home styles range from the grand mansions of the early 1900's, to the
bungalows of the 1920's, and to modern infill and condominium projects.
Midtown features good elementary, middle and high schools. In addition there are many
locally owned restaurants and shops. Midtown has the friendly atmosphere of
a long established neighborhood.
