Location
The gentle rolling hills of Middle Tennessee make this one of the most
picturesque areas of the country. Smyrna has excellent interstate access
making it only 20 minutes to the international airport in Nashville.
Within a four-hour drive, you can reach the major cities of the seven
states that border Tennessee.
History
Smyrna has had many outstanding citizens: its most famous was Sam Davis.
When he was captured by the Confederacy, he chose death rather than give
information that would put his friend and mission in jeopardy. Today the
Sam Davis Home
is a major tourist attraction to history buffs from all over.
Education - Smyrna, TN Schools
Quality education is a top priority for the community. Children in
Smyrna have access to attend 10 K-6 schools, 5 middle schools, and 3
high schools. All of the public schools are part of the
Rutherford County School
System. There are also private schools available for those that
desire them. Smyrna is also within 45 minutes of over 30 public and
private universities and colleges, including Motlow College that is located in Smyrna.
Culture
The citizens of Smyrna participate on many committees. The Town Council
appoints the members of the committees. One of the committees is the
Sister City Committee. Smyrna is a Sister City with Zama City, Japan.
Once each three-year period, 20 of our students and chaperones
visit Zama. The visit is reciprocated the following year where we host
Japanese students and chaperones in our homes. During the third year,
planning occurs for the next period.

A city manager form of government governs Smyrna -
The Smyrna
Town Council. There are six councilpersons and a mayor. Smyrna
provides full time police and fire protection as well as drinking water,
natural gas and sewerage services. All of this is provided with a property
tax rate of .86 per $100.
Healthcare
Smyrna has a new state of the art hospital,
StoneCrest Medical
Center with the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center. There are over 200 doctors
providing services to support the facility.
Recreational Activities - Fun in Smyrna
Smyrna is located in one of the best fishing states in the country.
Percy Priest Lake not only provides excellent fishing, but also skiing,
sailing and just plain soaking up the sun. Smyrna also has the eighteen
hole Smyrna National Golf Course, as well as a nine hole executive course.
Smyrna
Parks is made up of 10 parks throughout the town. They offer many
different kinds of sports for children and adults such as soccer, baseball,
softball and walking trails. If this was not enough, there is also the
Smyrna Town
Centre with a restaurant, fitness center and meeting rooms. For
additional fitness activities, you can visit the new
North Rutherford YMCA located in Smyrna.
Business & Smyrna Employers
Smyrna's central location makes it an ideal place for businesses to
locate. Within 500 miles of Smyrna, you can reach 75% of the population
of the United States. This gives businesses a base of operation that
offers low overhead costs, well-educated and plentiful workforce. As for
infrastructure, there is the interstate and rail access as well as the
Smyrna airport with one of the longest runways in Tennessee. These business

building their assembly plant in Smyrna providing over 6000 jobs and a stable
economy to the area.
Shopping
Smyrna has many new shops and well as restaurants. If you cannot find
what you want there, Murfreesboro is 10 minutes away, Nashville is 20
minutes and Franklin is 30 minutes. If you cannot find it within 30
minutes, you probably do not need it.
