Siloam Springs, AR: Crye-Leike Real Estate Services is proud to recognize The Silvey-Welch Team of Crye-Leikes Siloam Springs for their recent sponsorship of a breast cancer awareness high school softball game in their community.
On April 3rd, the real estate duo sponsored their local high school girls softball team, the Gentry Pioneers, as they battled the Greenland Pirates at Gentry High School softball field. Their sponsorship enabled BOTH teams to purchase special jerseys for the evenings event. The game was no ordinary softball match; the entirety of the night was dedicated to breast cancer survivors, current fighters, and those who have lost their lives or a loved one to breast cancer. With the theme No One Fights Alone the night was dedicated to bringing awareness to a disease that is not only life-altering but deadly.
Breast cancer survivors were invited to attend and as each player was announced, they were asked to walk with them onto the field. Players, coaches, and survivors joined hands for a moment of silence for those who had lost their battle with breast cancer before the games began. Each player wore a jersey purchased by the Silvey-Welch Team that displayed various shades of pink to reflect that of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer organization.

Throughout the evening, attendees, survivors, and team members were welcomed to hot dogs, chips, desserts, and cold beverages provided by the mothers of the players. While the break took place, those in attendance were given information about important breast cancer statistics and facts. The players were given markers and were encouraged to obtain autographs from the survivors as a way to honor them and provoke conversation.
"Having witnessed the affects that breast cancer can have on an individual and their family, I realize the importance of bringing education to young women so they will not be afraid should themselves or a loved one be stricken with this awful disease," said Jennifer Welch of Crye-Leikes Silvey-Welch Team. "Melanie Silvey and I were honored to sponsor this event and bring awareness to the community."
