MEMPHIS, TN., - Crye-Leike Commercial is announcing a FREE one-hour seminar on what every owner of commercial real estate needs to know. The first program will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 5:30pm at the Crye-Leike Corporate Center located at 6525 N. Quail Hollow, 4th Floor.-

The workshop "Money In Your Pocket: 3.5 Things you NEED to know before you SELL your Commercial Real Estate" planned for the last Thursday of each month, is the creation of Crye-Leike Commercial's Affiliate Broker Will Hicks and Managing Broker Dan Whipple.

"There are a few basic things that every owner of commercial real estate needs to know," said Dan. "Whether they're considering a sale, trying to sell it today - on their own - or planning to if the price is right? then they need some basic working knowledge about the process and that is who our program is geared to."

In about a one hour timeframe Dan and Will say they intend to turn novice commercial property owners into investors capable of making sound and educated decisions about their real estate.

Dan Whipple has been President of Crye-Leike Commercial in Memphis since 1993 and has more than a quarter century of experience in commercial and investment real estate. He is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), licensed Broker in Tennessee and Mississippi and a recipient of Crye-Leike's highest honor, the Circle of Excellence.

"There's a misconception that commercial real estate is less emotional than residential which is about someone's home," said Will. "Commercial real estate is about someone's job, ability to provide for their family, a child's college education and perhaps a legacy for grandchildren. I have found commercial property sales can be just as emotional and challenging as any other type of real estate transaction out there."

Dan and Will are members of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors (MAAR), Tennessee Association of Realtors (TAR) and National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Will Hicks was a SCUBA Instructor for eight years before obtaining his license to buy and sell commercial real estate. He specializes in medical and investment properties and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Germantown Kiwanis Club. Will says the part of the job he enjoys the most is communicating with his clients and prospective clients about how he can help them with their commercial real estate needs.

"Sometimes it's a business owner who's ready to retire and the final step is to sell the building and sometimes it's a client who's been trying to sell his building on his own for a while but isn't getting enough eyeballs with his sign and the ad in the newspaper," said Will. "Sometimes it's a successful business that needs more space to take the business to the next level. The needs of the people I work with are all over the board and so is their level of knowledge about the process of selling commercial real estate."
