While real estate agents stay pretty busy during the final days of the summer home selling season, Crye-Leike's Middle Tennessee Realtors have definitely been in a buying mood. Agents have been busy shopping for back to school supplies and backpacks to donate to children in the care of Youth Villages in Nashville and surrounding counties.
"By providing school supplies for these children, we're letting them know that they are important and special to our community," said Harold Crye, Crye-Leike, REALTORS Cofounder and CEO. "A solid education and great schools keep our children and communities thriving and strong, and we hope our small effort helps to make a big difference in their lives."
Now in its 11th consecutive year, Crye-Leike is part of the Youth Villages ?Backpack Heroes Campaign' - to help ensure that the kids in the agency's care in Middle Tennessee get the same start to school as every other child. So from early July until early August each year, Crye-Leike Associates and Employees across the Middle Tennessee region go school supply shopping and enjoy being backpack heroes because they know the new backpacks and school supplies give the kids the chance to feel like every other kid in getting something brand new that they can truly call their own.
"Because of what Crye-Leike associates do, these kids get to attend school with new folders, paper, pencils and backpacks like every other kid," said Greg Schott, Youth Villages Development Manager. "It gives them the opportunity to have something brand new and shows them they can trust grown-ups who are willing to help kids they don't even know."
In past years, Crye-Leike's Nashville region's backpack drives have been a great success with agents donating hundreds of backpacks and thousands of dollars of school supplies to Youth Villages. Crye-Leike's Middle Tennessee agents made the company's 2011 backpack campaign another great success with the Realtors collecting over 100 backpacks filled with hundreds of dollars of school supplies.
"We know from years past that the participation of our associates and employees helps to give these children a big boost in their self esteem and feel more comfortable with their classmates at the start of a new school year," said Crye.
Crye adds, "The Youth Villages mission, to help children and families live successfully is a mission that's at the heart of all Crye-Leike, REALTORS associates and employees as our backpack campaign strives to serve as many Middle Tennessee children as possible with new school supplies and backpacks. Many of our agents look forward to shopping for that special backpack or certain kind of notebook, pen or pencil set that they think the kids will enjoy each year."
