BENTON, AR.- Crye-Leike, REALTORS is pleased to announce Managing Broker Karen Crowson has been elected Vice Chairman of the Arkansas Real Estate Commission for 2008. Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe appointed Crowson to the state commission in 2007 so she is assuming the Vice Chair Post going into the second of a three-year appointment.


"I am honored that my colleagues on the commission have the trust and confidence in me to join them in a leadership capacity in 2008 as their newly elected Vice Chair," said Crowson. "I take this new responsibility seriously at a time when the public demands accountability and best practices from all licensed real estate professionals and the firms they represent in the great State of Arkansas."


Crowson has enjoyed an amazing career in real estate beginning in 1987 when she was first licensed to sell real estate in Arkansas. Her journey with Crye-Leike, Realtors launched in 2003 when she was named the Managing Broker (MB) of the company's new Bryant Arkansas branch office. A year later she was named to the same post at the Benton Arkansas branch office located at 1900 Military Road, Suite #4, where she remains the MB today.


Crowson's election to Vice Chair of the Real Estate Commission comes just months after she was honored as the 2007 Realtor of the Year by the Arkansas REALTORS? Association (ARA). She has had a stellar history of leadership with the ARA that includes: serving as President in 2006, President-Elect in 2005 and Secretary-Treasurer in 2004. Crowson remains very active in the ARA serving as the Vice Chair of the Political Action Committee and is a member of the Professional Standards Committee, Risk Reduction Committee and Member Services.


The Benton/Bryant Realtors Association (BBRA) first named Crowson Realtor of the Year in 1996 and again in 2001. She was the first recipient from the BBRA to be named Arkansas Realtor of the Year. With the BBRA Crowson currently serves as Chair of the REALTOR Political Action Committee and REALTOR of the Year Committee. In the past she has served as: President in 1996, Vice President 1995, Secretary/Treasurer 1993 and chaired the Make American Better Committee in 1991 and the Million Dollar Committee in 1988.


With the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Crowson is serving as a Director and member of the Professional Standards Committee. In the past she has served three-year terms on the NAR Housing Needs Committee and Professional Standards Committee.


Crowson is an Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR), a Certified Real Estate Specialist (CRS) and a Graduate REALTORS Institute (GRI). She assists buyers and sellers in and around Saline County, specializing in residential real estate.


Crowson and her daughter, Angie Johnson, also a licensed Sales Associate with Crye-Leike, Realtors, work together as the Team. She and Johnson are Platinum level Award of Excellence recipients based on sales levels in 2007 and 2006.
