Crye-Leike's Back-To-School Drive Benefits Children Of Youth Villages
Brentwood, TN. (July 24, 2017) - With Crye-Leike Real Estate Services having a personal connection to Youth Villages, it is no surprise the nation's fifth largest independently-owned residential real estate brokerage firm's 17th Annual Backpack Drive for Youth Villages was a success.
Crye-Leike's sales associates and employees of Middle Tennessee collected over 300 new backpacks, filled with required school supplies in support of Youth Villages of Middle Tennessee's annual Backpack Heroes Program.
Co-founder and chief executive officer of Crye-Leike, Harold E. Crye, holds Youth Villages' Backpack Drive near and dear to his heart. Crye's son, Chris Crye, was a personal supporter of Youth Villages, and following his untimely passing, Mr. Crye committed to Youth Villages that he would continue to support the children of Youth Villages in Chris' honor. It is because of the great generosity of the Crye-Leike family of sales associates and employees that the real estate brokerage firm is Youth Villages' single largest backpack donor.
Youth Villages (youthvillages.org) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successfully through home-based counseling, therapeutic foster care, adoption services, residential treatment, community-based programs, and crisis and prevention services, all with the goal to build strong families.
"Most of the young people in our care live well below the poverty line and wouldn't have anything for back to school if it weren't for the generous donations from volunteers and companies like Crye-Leike," said Patti Bryan, development manager of Youth Villages of Middle Tennessee.
"Backpacks are essential school items that most children take for granted, she said. "Crye-Leike is giving these children the chance to feel the same thrill as other students do when having new school supplies to call their own. This gesture also shows the children that they can trust grown-ups who are willing to help and they don't even know."
This year, Youth Villages' Backpack Heroes Program will serve over 800 children in Middle Tennessee, including Clarksville, Columbia, Dickson, Cookeville, Linden and Nashville.
"By providing school supplies for these children, Crye-Leike is sending a message that they are important," said Mr. Crye. "A solid education and great schools keep our children and communities thriving and strong. We hope our small efforts help make a big difference in these children's lives."

Crye-Leike Fundraiser Nets $2,200 for DAV - Reported by GrandLakeNews.com
Thanks in part, to a pulled-pork fundraiser hosted by volunteers at Crye-Leike Realtors in Grove, members of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 19, are closer to their goal of obtaining a larger van.
The fundraiser, which took place in May, brought in $2,200 for the organization. On Tuesday, June 6, Matthew Sowers with Drake's Restaurant presented the funds to Jon Arthur, commander of the DAV.
Members of the DAV bought the current van in 2010 for approximately $25,000. It is used to transport disabled veterans to VA medical facilities in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
DAV volunteers said a new van, with additional headspace, is needed to help disabled veterans who struggle when climbing into it.
The funds presented Tuesday represented the proceeds from the luncheon, catered by Sowers, with the help from members of the Crye-Leike realtor team and members of Delaware County 4-H Clubs.
Donna White, the broker for Crye-Leike, said Lesa Duffield, who died a year ago, opened the office in Grove in 2009. She began the annual fundraising meal in 2010.
This year, her husband Bob Duffield, helped to choose the DAV as the receiving organization.
Cliff Guffey, the DAV adjutant, said the DAV accepts "all kinds of donations." To donate towards the purchase of the van, persons may mail checks to P.O. Box 450675, Grove, Oklahoma, 74345.

Crye-Leike Mt. Juliet Auctions Desserts Instead of Homes, Raising $9,147 for local charities
Mt. Juliet, Tenn. (February 24, 2017) - An auction was held at Crye-Leike Real Estate Services' Mt. Juliet branch office, but the real estate agents were not selling property. Instead of making competitive offers on houses, bidders were hoping to place the winning bid on one of many homemade cakes, cookies, pies and other sweet treats up for auction.
Crye-Leike agents in Mt. Juliet put business on hold to host the office's 13th Annual Martin Cummings Sweet Tooth Auction. Agents host the auction every year during the company's United Way Campaign to raise money for local charities supported by United Way of Wilson County. Crye-Leike agents invite their clients, peers, friends, vendors and the public to attend this fun and entertaining fundraiser.
The proceeds from this year's Sweet Tooth Auction raised $9,147, benefiting Empower Me Day Camp and Mt. Juliet Senior Center, agencies of United Way of Wilson County.
Crye-Leike presented its Mt. Juliet office the United Way Golden Heart Award for their fund-raising efforts.
Since 2004, Crye-Leike's Mt. Juliet office has raised over $50,000 at their sweet tooth auctions with proceeds benefiting various local nonprofit agencies supported by United Way of Wilson County, said Crye-Leike organizer and affiliate broker Joann Pucciarelli.
The Sweet Tooth Auction is named in memory of the late Martin Cummings who was the first managing broker of Crye-Leike's Mt. Juliet office.
"Martin was a devoted fund-raising volunteer in his community, raising over $1 million for numerous charities during his real estate career," said Pucciarelli. "Martin always stressed to us agents to give back to the community we serve, and that is just what we at Crye-Leike's Mt. Juliet office continue to do each year to honor his memory."

Crye-Leike's Danna Johnson Recognized Nationally for Good Neighbor Work
BRENTWOOD, TENN. (October 18, 2016)Realtor Danna Johnson with Crye-Leike Real Estate Services in Jonesboro, Ark. is one of five honorable mentions chosen by America's largest trade association, the National Association of Realtors (NAR), for its REALTOR Magazine's Good Neighbor Award.
Johnson was selected for having fulfilled wishes for 50 children with life-threatening medical conditions through the Make-A-Wish Mid-South.
Over the last 17 years, the Good Neighbor Awards, presented by NAR's REALTOR Magazine, have recognized Realtors who dedicate countless volunteer hours to help others. More than $1 million in grants have been awarded to the winners' charities since the inaugural award. Winners of the Good Neighbor Award serve as an example of how Realtors build and strengthen communities.
As a Good Neighbor finalist, Johnson was also named the public's Web Choice winner with the most votes and will receive an additional $1,000 bonus donation for Make-A-Wish Mid-South, courtesy of realtor.com, in addition to the $2,500 she earned for her charity in being a finalist. The public was solicited to vote for the 10 Good Neighbor Award finalists during the month of September to determine who would be named the Web Choice winner.
Nominees for REALTOR Magazine's Good Neighbor Awards were judged on their personal contribution of time as well as financial and material contributions to benefit their cause. To be eligible, nominees must be NAR members in good standing. More information about the Good Neighbor Awards winners is available at www.realtor.org/gna.
GIVING BACK TO HER COMMUNITY. Johnson became a Make-A-Wish Mid-South wish granter and fund-raising volunteer 18 years ago and was hooked. Wishes can be anything a child might dream up, from a trip to Disney World to a room makeover to being a chef for a day. She has granted eight wishes this year alone for children ranging from ages three to 18.
"You will never meet a stronger and more selfless person than a wish child," says Johnson. "The faith that they share and the love that they so willingly give runs deeper than anything I can describe."
One common misconception is that wishes are for children who are dying, notes Johnson. Make-A-Wish serves children with life-threatening medical conditions, and the wishes are intended to give them a source of inspiration and something to look forward to.
"A child doesn't have to be terminally ill to get a wish," says Johnson. "I's not a last wish; it's a lasting wish."
Johnson has also inspired local students to share the power of a wish. Brookland Elementary School held a change drive that raised $13,000 in one week and funded to wishes.
"It's the students who learn how to raise and count money," says Johnson. "We are teaching them the importance of giving back and touching the lives of other children."
In addition to granting wishes, Johnson coordinates Jonesboro's biggest Make-A-Wish event as co-chair of the Have-A-Heart Wish-A-Thon. Since 1999, Johnson has helped raise more than $3 million, which has funded wishes for 620 children.
Around Valentine's Day, the organization works with Jonesboro Radio Group and KAIT-TV to allow wish children and their families to share their stories on the air. The event raised $400,000 this year for her target area of northeast Arkansas, beating all other groups in per capita fundraising in her Mid-South chapter, which covers parts of Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi.
Johnson coordinates the largest component of this annual Wish-A-Thon: the community roadblocks. Volunteers, including wish children and their families, stand at intersections for 12 hours collecting donations at 14 roadblocks around Jonesboro. Throughout the day, volunteers call in to the radio show to report dollar totals. Rain or shine, Johnson makes trips with an armed police officer to take the checks, coins, and dollars to the bank. This year alone, the roadblock volunteers raised $185,750.
Johnson has 19 years of real estate experience. She has been recognized for her work with Northeast Arkansas Association of Realtors on various levels, including her service as board president and REALTOR of the Year.
Johnson has also been awarded the Arkansas Association of Realtors Special Friend Award for her service to Special Olympics and Volunteer of the Year for Make-A-Wish Mid-South.
The National Association of Realtors, "The Voice for Real Estate," represents over 1.1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries. Realtor.com, the official web site of NAR and operated by News Corp [NASDAQ: NWS, NWSA] [ASX: NWS, NWSLV] subsidiary Move, Inc., pioneered the world of digital real estate 20 years ago.
Crye-Leike (crye-leike.com), a full service real estate company for 39 years, is ranked the nation's sixth largest residential real estate brokerage firm among the nation's top 500 and is the largest real estate company in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and the Mid-South.
As a multi-million dollar producer, Danna Johnson is among Crye-Leike's network of over 3,200 sales associates who are located across 115 branch and franchise offices over a nine-state region.
Johnson is affiliated with Crye-Leike's Jonesboro branch office, located at 2907 S. Caraway Rd in Jonesboro, Ark. She may be reached at (870) 919-2226, or Johnson@crye-leike.com.

Crye-Leike Broker partners with Caring Transitions of Chattanooga to help seniors through retirement relocation
CHATTANOOGA, TN -When older adults are faced with the need to relocate from their home to an assisted living community or retirement campus, they are often confronted with a variety of challenges that neither they nor their loved ones are prepared to address.
Greg Humble of Crye-Leike Realtors and Bill Tobin of Caring Transitions of Greater Chattanooga are working together to offer solutions to the problems most seniors in the region encounter during the move to a new home.
"The most immediate need is the move itself," said Mr. Tobin, whose relocation service opened earlier this year in Chattanooga.
"What does the older adult want to bring with them? What do they need to bring? How will it all fit in the new floor plan? Who is going to pack and move all these items," said Tobin. "It's all very overwhelming for the individual, and equally so for their loved ones, whose time is already divided between their professional lives and care giving for their own children."
For Humble, the next most important consideration is what to do with the home after it is vacated.
"More often than not, the elderly need the income generated from the sale of their home to finance their future care in a senior community," said Humble. "Crye-Leike draws from a variety of sophisticated proprietary resources to match sellers with prospective buyers. Our goal is to maximize revenue for sellers while providing value to buyers. If it is not a win-win situation, it doesn't make sense to show the home."
"After the move," Humble continued, "there is usually a large volume of belongings left behind in the home that need to be removed before it can be put on the market. Teaming up with Caring Transitions makes sense because, they not only manage the move, but they also conduct estate sales and clean out the home so we can list it in a timely fashion."
Mr. Tobin says that working with Crye-Leike and Greg Humble is a welcome collaboration.
"We both share a lifelong passion for helping older adults and their loved ones," said Tobin. "We want to take the stress of moving completely off their shoulders so they can continue to focus upon what is most important to the older adult: finding fulfillment in later life. Southeast Tennessee is fortunate to have a broad spectrum of innovative retirement resources, and we are pleased to be able to serve them as well."
"The need is so great," said Humble. "As the baby boomers continue to retire, the demographic profile of our region is going to get older and older. The demand for assistance with relocation and home sale services for older adults is only going to grow, and those in need of our services need to know that we are here to throw them a life line."

Crye-Leike?s 2012 United Way Campaign Collects $22,300
For the past 35 years, Crye-Leike Realtors have been proud to assist home buyers and sellers with all of their real estate needs while also taking some time to give back to their communities and lend a helping hand to their neighbors in need.
In each of the nine states the company serves, Crye-Leike's branch offices and Realtors enjoy hosting various creative fundraisers to help the folks in their community who need it most. Whether the offices organize a coat drive for the homeless or a chili cook-off fundraiser, the Realtors enjoy choosing different charities to support in their local community.
In addition to all of the office charity events the company's Realtors host, Crye-Leike holds an annual United Way Campaign to collect money for various charitable organizations supported by United Way.
Crye-Leike Realtors rallied together to help the company's 2012 United Way campaign raise $22,300 for local charities in the counties Crye-Leike serves.
"Our 2012 United Way campaign was another great success," said Crye-Leike Cofounder and CEO Harold Crye. "Crye-Leike is thankful to have so many generous agents and employees who are excited to be Good Samaritans in their community helping their neighbors in need."
This year, Crye-Leike was excited to take their United Way campaign in a new direction giving their agents and employees a chance to donate online with a campaign website built especially for the company associates. Crye-Leike also encouraged its agents to visit United Way's website and type in their zip code to see all of the wonderful ways the organization supports their local community.
"We wanted Crye-Leike associates to see all of the success stories their local United Way has so they would know exactly what their personal pledges would do to support the organization and the community," said Crye-Leike Public Relations Manager Melissa Spoonamore. "United Way partners with and assists a diverse range of charities that help people in the community in several ways including providing food and shelter, counseling families and people with problems especially in times of crisis, providing services to working parents, helping and preparing kids to succeed and face life's challenges, providing care to seniors helping them remain independent and so much more. Crye-Leike is glad to know that United Way multiplies the value of our personal monetary gifts by joining it with other donations to have a greater impact on the crucial issues facing the local communities."
In order to jumpstart its annual United Way campaign, Crye-Leike also organized a pumpkin decorating contest this fall where agents and employees gathered up their arts and crafts supplies and carving tools to decorate a pumpkin for a good cause. Crye-Leike's pumpkin decorating contest collected $400 for United Way and was a fun event to kick off the company's 2012 personal pledge campaign for United Way.

For the 8th year, Crye-Leike helps build a Habitat for Humanity home in Williamson County
The following story was created by The Jones Company:
Franklin, TN ? For the eighth time in 8 years, The Jones Company and Crye-Leike Realtors have partnered to build another "Green" Habitat for Humanity home in Williamson County.
The Jones Company and Crye-Leike, REALTORS? have been working to complete the home in The Overlook at Carter's Creek Station, located at 1810 Daniel Court in Columbia, TN. The home will be ready in time for the family to move in before Thanksgiving. The new homeowner is Bittisa Peoples, who is a mother of four and grandmother of twins. She grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School. She is a Certified Direct Support Professional trained at Waves, Inc. and currently works at Tennessee Personal Assistance, a job she finds very rewarding as she helps people with challenges lead a more fulfilling life.
Bittisa's oldest son, Mondreko (Tre) is 20 and recently completed his first year at Western Kentucky University and is now transferring to MTSU. Howard (15) loves to play basketball and is currently a student at Centennial High School. Bittisa's oldest daughter, Searria, is 19 and has a set of twins, Leeya and L.J. (3). Francescia (Precious) is 14 and loves music and dancing. Precious has cerebral palsy, and has several physical limitations that will be accommodated for in the new home.
This partnership between the two companies represents a $70,000 commitment, with more than 100 volunteers as well as 25 supply sponsors including Huskey Truss, Delta Associates, American Heating & Cooling, Tennessee Glass, and Jewell Roofing.
"I truly appreciate the kindness and generosity from all of these sponsors," says Bittisa. "I have really enjoyed the learning experience and meeting new, positive people who support and encourage me."
The project is a result of the partners' ongoing commitment to continue to build one new Habitat for Humanity home in Williamson County per year. This partnership stems from a strategic marketing alliance formed between the two companies in September 2000.
"We have found our commitment to Habitat for Humanity to be extremely rewarding," said Richard Chapman, president and partner of The Jones Company. "It gives us all an opportunity to roll up our sleeves for a common cause, and help make a difference for a deserving, hard working mother of four.
"Working with The Jones Company to build a Habitat home is something we look forward to every year," said Harold Crye, cofounder and CEO of Crye-Leike, REALTORS. "This partnership has not only had a very positive effect out in our community, but also internally, with our employees. We continue to be committed to the goal of homeownership for anyone with the desire and commitment."

About Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County:
Since 1992, Williamson County Habitat for Humanity has partnered with local churches, businesses, foundations and the public sector to provide 96 hardworking, lower-income Williamson County families with an opportunity to purchase their own home. Home construction and neighborhood development is funded through tax-deductible financial contributions and in-kind donations from local businesses, churches, civic organizations and individuals.
These contributions, along with the labor of sponsor employees, members and other volunteers enable Williamson County Habitat to build and sell homes to selected families who partner with Williamson County Habitat. Working families are selected to partner with HFHWC on the basis of family income ($17,000 - $40,000 annual household income) and their demonstrated need for affordable housing. After an extensive qualification process, the families must (i) complete up to 500 hours of "sweat equity" by completing a Homebuyer's Education program, working on others' and their own homes; (ii) purchase their home for the "cost of construction price" through a 30-year, interest-free mortgage, and (iii) make principal, property insurance and tax payments totaling approximately $525 per month on time. Habitat homeowners continue an ongoing relationship with Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County and agree to certain post-closing restrictive covenants that continue throughout the 30-year life of the mortgage. Middle Tennessee Agents Are Backpack Heroes For Youth Villages 11 Consecutive Years
While real estate agents stay pretty busy during the final days of the summer home selling season, Crye-Leike's Middle Tennessee Realtors have definitely been in a buying mood. Agents have been busy shopping for back to school supplies and backpacks to donate to children in the care of Youth Villages in Nashville and surrounding counties.
"By providing school supplies for these children, we're letting them know that they are important and special to our community," said Harold Crye, Crye-Leike, REALTORS Cofounder and CEO. "A solid education and great schools keep our children and communities thriving and strong, and we hope our small effort helps to make a big difference in their lives."
Now in its 11th consecutive year, Crye-Leike is part of the Youth Villages ?Backpack Heroes Campaign' - to help ensure that the kids in the agency's care in Middle Tennessee get the same start to school as every other child. So from early July until early August each year, Crye-Leike Associates and Employees across the Middle Tennessee region go school supply shopping and enjoy being backpack heroes because they know the new backpacks and school supplies give the kids the chance to feel like every other kid in getting something brand new that they can truly call their own.
"Because of what Crye-Leike associates do, these kids get to attend school with new folders, paper, pencils and backpacks like every other kid," said Greg Schott, Youth Villages Development Manager. "It gives them the opportunity to have something brand new and shows them they can trust grown-ups who are willing to help kids they don't even know."
In past years, Crye-Leike's Nashville region's backpack drives have been a great success with agents donating hundreds of backpacks and thousands of dollars of school supplies to Youth Villages. Crye-Leike's Middle Tennessee agents made the company's 2011 backpack campaign another great success with the Realtors collecting over 100 backpacks filled with hundreds of dollars of school supplies.
"We know from years past that the participation of our associates and employees helps to give these children a big boost in their self esteem and feel more comfortable with their classmates at the start of a new school year," said Crye.
Crye adds, "The Youth Villages mission, to help children and families live successfully is a mission that's at the heart of all Crye-Leike, REALTORS associates and employees as our backpack campaign strives to serve as many Middle Tennessee children as possible with new school supplies and backpacks. Many of our agents look forward to shopping for that special backpack or certain kind of notebook, pen or pencil set that they think the kids will enjoy each year."

Crye-Leike Brentwood Agents Invite The Community To Join Their Efforts In Supporting The Red Cross & Giving The Gift Of Life
Brentwood, TN, - For many years, the Realtors in Crye-Leike's Brentwood West Regional Headquarters office have sponsored a blood drive for the American Red Cross - and this year they will keep that tradition alive as they host their 9th Annual Blood Drive.
On Wednesday, June 8th, an American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be parked outside of Crye-Leike's Brentwood West sales office - located at 5111 Maryland Way - with a full nursing staff standing by to take good care of all the donors.
"We hope lots of people will join us in giving the gift of life," said Crye-Leike Realtor and Brentwood Blood Drive Coordinator Jim Heidenway. "We invite and encourage the public to join our efforts in supporting the Red Cross by calling our office to schedule an appointment time to give blood. This will ensure no one will have to wait in line."
Crye-Leike's Realtors work with buyers and sellers in the community everyday and giving back to the community they serve by supporting charities like the American Red Cross has always been an important goal for the sales associates of Crye-Leike's Brentwood Branch.
"We host our blood drives for the Red Cross in the summer because that's the time when donors are needed most," said Heidenway. "During the summer months, the need for blood in local hospitals increases due to travel related injuries, outdoor accidents and scheduled surgeries while donations often decrease because regular donors are busy with travel and vacation plans."
Crye-Leike, REALTORS in Brentwood will host its 9th Annual Summer Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 8th from 10:00am - 3:00pm at the Regional Headquarters Plaza located at 5111 Maryland Way - providing a convenient way for the agents and the community to donate.
The office's goal is to have as many donors as possible because 800 pints of blood are needed each day in the Greater Nashville area. Each pint of blood donated can save as many as three lives and also goes to help the Red Cross maintain a ready supply of blood for emergencies.
"All donors will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win dinner for two at Logan's Roadhouse," said Heidenway. "In addition for a chance to win a nice dinner at Logan's, anyone who donates blood will have the satisfaction of knowing they are saving a life."
For more information about the blood drive or to schedule an appointment time to donate, please call Crye-Leike's Brentwood Branch Office at 373-2044.

Crye-Leike Hosts Dinner & A Movie Fundraiser At The Belcourt Theater in Nashville
NASHVILLE, TN, - Giving back to the community they work in on a daily basis is important to the Realtors in all of Crye-Leike's offices throughout Nashville. Each office comes up with creative ways to fundraise and support local charities and that's exactly what the Realtors in Crye-Leike's Brentwood Old Hickory office do each year during Christmas.
"Only a few years ago it was difficult for our office to come together and be motivated to raise money for a local charity because we didn't have a plan in place or a special organization for agents to be inspired by, but that all changed three years ago when we began creative fundraising for the children who attend Vanderbilt's Camp Hope." said Crye-Leike Realtor and Fundraising Captain Jack Jernigan.
It's been a tradition for Crye-Leike's Brentwood Old Hickory agents to organize a fundraiser for Camp Hope for the last three years. They have raised thousands of dollars for kids who have suffered serious physical and emotional pain from severe burns.
"While this event is sponsored by our office, it has become one of Crye-Leike's premier events of the year," said Jack. "It's an exciting time where our offices come together for children burn victims needing to attend Camp Hope. Many of these children are teased and taunted by schoolmates and Camp Hope is a place where they can just be normal kids together."
Jack adds, "The camp is a typical camp but because of the kids injuries it takes many adult volunteers and therapists to make it run smoothly. As a volunteer at the camp since 2006, I thought I would make a difference in these kid's lives but they have made more of a difference in my life"
Crye-Leike Agents will carry on their tradition of fundraising for Camp Hope this year by hosting a Dinner and a Movie night at the Belcourt Theater in Nashville. They did a similar event last year and will once again show the hit movie "The Polar Express."
"Last year's event was great fun with 180 people attending the event and we raised a lot of money too," said Jack. "We raised $3,500 so more kids would be able to attend Camp Hope. This year our goal is to have at least 250 people come have dinner and watch the wonderful movie that puts you in a Christmas spirit. We also hope to raise $7,500 dollars for Camp Hope."
More About The Crye-Leike Fundraiser For Camp Hope
Crye-Leike Agents are selling tickets to Dinner and a Movie at the Belcourt Theater in Nashville with all proceeds benefiting Vanderbilt's Camp Hope. The fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, December 8th with dinner and a silent auction starting at 6pm and "The Polar Express" playing at 7pm. Santa Clause will also be at the event and parents can have their kids' photos taken with him.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.belcourt.org or at the box office located at 2102 Belcourt Avenue in Nashville. Tickets for adults are $20 and tickets for children are $15. NASHVILLE, TN, - Giving back to the community they serve is always an important goal for the sales associates in Crye-Leike, REALTORS Cane Ridge Nashville office - but now they see their goal to give back is more important than ever before.
With more people struggling to make ends meet and in need of assistance, Crye-Leike's Cane Ridge Nashville agents are organizing a coat drive for the homeless.
"We're continually looking for ways to give back to the community," said Wanda Batson, Coat Drive Coordinator & Crye-Leike Nashville Agent. "We normally work with homeowners and prospective homeowners on a daily basis. In this case we felt the need to help out the homeless, so we're asking everyone in our office to get in touch with their friends and neighbors for donations of new or gently used winter coats."
Crye-Leike Agent Wanda Batson is organizing the "Crye-Leike Coats for the Homeless Campaign" for the third year in a row. Last year, the companywide coat drive collected a truck load of coats, gloves, scarves and other winter clothes for homeless men, women and children in the Nashville area.
"All the coats and winter clothing collected last year were donated to Belmont Church and handed out at the church's Christmas Dinner they provide each year to feed the homeless." said Wanda.
Again this year, Crye-Leike is challenging each agent and associate to collect coats from friends, neighbors and from their own closets to be donated to Belmont Church's annual coat drive and dinner for the homeless.
"We're excited to be supporting and joining in the Belmont Church congregation's ongoing winter coat campaign for the homeless," said Wanda. "This holiday, as home sales traditionally slow down, we are refocusing our energy and hoping to brighten the spirits of many homeless adults and children living in and around Nashville."

Crye-Leike Mt. Juliet Collects $5,020 For United Way
An auction was recently held at the Crye-Leike, REALTORS Mt. Juliet sales office, but the Agents were not selling property.
Instead of making competitive offers on a home, bidders were hoping to place the winning bid on one of the many delicious desserts up for auction.
Crye-Leike Agents in Mt. Juliet put business on hold Tuesday morning September 21, 2010 to host the office's Seventh Annual Martin Cummings Sweet Tooth Auction. The agents host the auction every September during the company's United Way Campaign to raise money for local charities supported by United Way of Wilson County.
This year's Sweet Tooth Auction brought in $5,020 to benefit local charities. A hearty breakfast was served to everyone who attended and was followed by the auctioning of many homemade cakes, cookies, pies and other sweet treats and items.
"Thanks to all the support from Kathy Tomlinson from Realty Title and Dwayne Hampton from Magna Bank for the wonderful breakfast and thanks to the donations of auction items from local businesses, the public, agents from Crye-Leike offices and other Real Estate companies, and thanks to the auctioneers, the auction this year was a huge success!" said Crye-Leike Affiliate Broker Joann Pucciarelli. "A special thanks goes to our fabulous Mt. Juliet office because without all their support from baking, inviting others, bidding and being such a wonderful group of people this auction would not be possible."
The Sweet Tooth Auction is named in memory of the late Martin Cummings who was the first Managing Broker of the Crye-Leike, REALTORS Mt. Juliet office.
"Martin always stressed to us to give back to the community and that is what our office has always tried to do," said Joann. "We were very fortunate to have Martin's wife Camilla Cummings to join us in the fun at the auction this year. I know Martin would be very proud of the way the auction turned out and thrilled on how successful it grows every year."
Dickson Realtors Plan Yard Sale And Bake Sale To Benefit United Way
Realtors in Crye-Leike's Dickson office are planning their 4th Annual Yard Sale and Bake Sale for United Way. All proceeds will benefit local charities supported by United Way.
"While our local agencies are many, most of our donations go to the Dickson County Help Center, the Dickson Senior Citizen Center and the Meals on Wheels Program," said Beth Ahlheit, Crye-Leike Dickson Affiliate Broker and Office Co-Captain for United Way. "We have already had some donations, but we're still in need of more items."
Agents at Crye-Leike Dickson are encouraging folks in the community to de-clutter their apartments, homes and offices and donate unwanted new and slightly warn items to the company's United Way Yard Sale. Donations of clothing, toys, furniture, books, and other household items can be dropped off at Crye-Leike's Dickson office located at 1904 Highway 46 South.
The Realtors will be accepting donations until Friday, September 17th. The yard sale and bake sale will be in the front parking lot of the office on Saturday, September 18th from 8am to 4pm.
"Through our yard sales the past few years, Crye-Leike Dickson has raised thousands of dollars for United Way." said Cindy Smith, Crye-Leike Dickson Affiliate Broker and Office Co-Captain for United Way. "We hope to see many people stop by our yard sale to find a good bargain and join our efforts in supporting United Way."

Bella Vista Realtors Invite The Public To Give The Gift Of Life
BELLA VISTA, AR., - Realtors work with buyers and sellers in the community everyday - and it's no surprise that many agents take time out of their schedules on several occasions during the year to give back to those same communities.
Crye-Leike Realtors in Bella Vista are planning to give back to their community by hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross. The Realtors want to give the gift of life in memory of their friend and Managing Broker Dave Mishler who recently passed away.
"I know Dave would be very proud," said Crye-Leike Office Administrator Kathryn Weldon. "Every since he became the Managing Broker of our office, he always wanted to do some kind of event here to give back to the community, but he just ran out of time."
Crye-Leike's "Dave Mishler Memorial Blood Drive" will be held on Friday, September 24th at the Bella Vista sales office located at 3463 Bella Vista Way.
The Realtors are planning to make this drive an annual event and are hoping many people in the community will join their efforts in giving the gift of life.
"We invite the public to stop by our office and donate blood," said Weldon. "The American Red Cross is in constant need of blood donations. Each pint of blood donated can save as many as three lives and also goes to help the Red Cross maintain a ready supply of blood for emergencies."
Appointments are now being accepted for the "Crye-Leike Dave Mishler Memorial Blood Drive." The Realtors encourage the public to schedule an appointment by visiting www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code CLRBV.
"An American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be parked outside of our office with a full nursing staff ready to take good care of all our donors on September 24th," said Weldon. "This will be a convenient way for our agents to donate blood while honoring Dave's Memory, and we also hope to see many members of the community stop by our office to help us make this first blood drive a great success."
Weldon adds, "The Red Cross has been advising the public that the parameters for donating blood have changed, so if you were ineligible in the past, please check with the Red Cross. Some medications that may have excluded you from donating will no longer make you ineligible."

The Needs Of Others Inspires Rutherford County Realtor
SMYRNA, TN., - It's a well known fact that when we work together toward a goal as a team we can accomplish much more than going at a task individually. Smyrna Realtor Heather Karl knows that from both her experience in the business of home sales and community service.
Heather is taking the ?team approach' to heart during the month of September as the United Way Campaign Team Captain at the Crye-Leike Smyrna sales center.
"Since the first year I volunteered as a United Way Team Captain I have been consistently amazed by how far the agency reached and what services it offers right here in our community," said Heather. "I had the opportunity to visit some of the community centers United Way donations support and learned that children in those centers sometimes have their only daily nutrition provided in one meal or snack during their stay. The need is very real."
Heather carries on a long-standing relationship and tradition that Crye-Leike associates have supporting United Way during its annual September giving campaign. Since 2000 the company has made workplace giving fun for everyone - raising donations that support and sustain agencies that provide vital services to those in need.
"Bringing donations to the Smyrna/LaVergne Food Bank you see that there really are people who depend on the assistance," said Heather. "The partner agencies and initiatives of United Way of Rutherford and Cannon counties cover everything from Alive Hospice, Salvation Army, domestic violence programs, youth services, Boys & Girls Club, Girl Scouts, Tennessee Poison Center, Legal Aid and more."
In 2007, Heather helped organize and promote a Chili Cook-Off fundraiser at the Smyrna office to benefit United Way and the Masters Touch agency.
"Giving even the smallest contribution makes it possible for so many agencies to exist and help those who need it most," said Heather. "Many people right here in our community have probably needed or used these services without knowing that it's possible because of the support of the United Way."
All of the funds Crye-Leike Smyrna raises will stay in Rutherford and Cannon counties. United Way will disperse all funds collected based on a formula targeting approximately 28% for education, 22% for health, 16% for rebuilding lives and 34% for income assistance.
"It's very rewarding to be a part of the campaign again this year," said Heather. "And it's always important to give back - it all comes full circle."

Realtors Go Shopping For Back To School
BRENTWOOD, TN., - While real estate agents stay pretty busy during the final days of the summer home selling season, the Realtors of Crye-Leike are definitely in a buying mood. Agents have been hitting the stores shopping for back to school items to donate to Middle Tennessee children in the care of Youth Villages.
"This has been a wonderful tradition for us and we love it," said Kristin Pendergraft, Crye-Leike Spring Hill Managing Broker. "While the real estate market has slowed down, our agents have not when it comes to shopping for new school supplies for these children."
Now in its 10th consecutive year, Crye-Leike is part of the Youth Villages ?Backpack Heroes Campaign' - to help ensure that the emotionally and behaviorally challenged kids in the agency's care get the same start to school as every other child. Everything that's donated goes to help local children in the Middle Tennessee area.
"Most of these children live below the poverty line and can't afford new school supplies," said Harold Crye, Crye-Leike, REALTORS Cofounder and CEO. "These are kids with little or nothing at all, so getting something new goes a long way."
Crye's late son Chris was a huge supporter of Youth Villages. Chris Crye was very involved with the Middle Tennessee agency up until his tragic death ten years ago. In his memory, the agents of Crye-Leike carry on a tradition of caring for kids who deserve every opportunity to learn and succeed.
"Because of what Crye-Leike associates do, these kids get to attend school with new folders, paper, pencils and backpacks like every other kid," said Greg Schott, Youth Villages Development Manager. "It gives them the opportunity to have something brand new and shows them they can trust grown ups who are willing to help kids they don't even know."
So from late July until early August Crye-Leike Associates and Employees across the Middle Tennessee region go school supply shopping. They effectively become agents of better education.
"I know agents who all summer look forward to hitting the stores for these kids," said Crye-Leike Manager Pendergraft. "They will search high and low for that special backpack or certain kind of notebooks and pen or pencil set. It's very personal to us as we hope it is for the kids."
This year Crye-leike is helping children in the care of Youth Villages across the Middle Tennessee region. From as far west as Cookeville, south to Columbia, north to Hendersonville and west to Dickson.
"By providing school supplies for these children, we're letting them know that they are special to our community," said Harold Crye. "A solid education and great schools keep our children and communities thriving and strong, and we hope our small effort helps to make a difference in their lives."
More About Youth Villages
Youth Villages is a private nonprofit organization that serves emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families. Its mission is to help children and families live successfully. Most of the children in Youth Villages' care have had to be removed from their homes because of abuse and/or neglect and are in custody of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services. The organization helps these children by finding permanency for each one - either returning to his or her own home or, if not possible, finding a caring "forever" family through adoption.

Sales Associates in Crye-Leike, REALTORS Clarsksville/St. Bethlehem office woke up early on Saturday, July 10th - but their motivation wasn't to make a sale.
The Realtors inspiration to skip sleeping in that morning was a pancake breakfast fundraiser they planned and organized for United Way.
Crye-Leike Clarksville's Pancake Breakfast held at Applebee's raised $977.00 for local charities. Each year the Realtors come up with a creative way to fundraise for charities supported by United Way.
Thanks to several Crye-Leike associates including--Phil and Kathy Munden, Kimberly Newlove, Ann Marshbanks, Rita Knight, Aaron Moore, Tootie Louie, BJ Buckler, Jim Phillips, Larry Jackson, Susan Skirvin, Suzan Ping, Jennifer Emery, Glenda Gardner, and Kay Schillo-- all the pancakes got served to the breakfast guests and the fundraiser was a huge success.
The Crye-Leike Clarksville/St. Bethlehem office extends a special thanks to Applebee's for helping host the event and thanks everyone who bought a breakfast ticket to support United Way.
Williamson County Realtors Invite The Public To Join Them In Giving The Gift Of Life
BRENTWOOD, TN., - For many years the Realtors in Crye-Leike's Brentwood West Regional Headquarters office have sponsored a blood drive for the American Red Cross - and this year they will keep that tradition alive in a time when many Nashville charities need the help of businesses and the public now more than ever.
"Disasters like the unusual Nashville flooding shine light on why donating to organizations such as United Way and the Red Cross is such an important thing to do," said Crye-Leike Broker and Blood Drive Coordinator Jim Heidenway. "For these organizations, donations are vital to their survival and their ability to help those who need it most in times of terrible tragedy."
The Realtors work with buyers and sellers in the community everyday and giving back to the community by supporting charities like the American Red Cross has always been an important goal for the sales associates in Crye-Leike's Brentwood West Sales Office.
"For the past seven years we have hosted a blood drive for the Red Cross in the summer," said Crye-Leike Broker and Blood Drive Coordinator Lorie Layman. "During the summer months, the need for blood in local hospitals increases due to travel related injuries, outdoor accidents and scheduled surgeries while donations often decrease because regular donors are busy with travel and vacation plans."
Crye-Leike, REALTORS in Brentwood will host its Eighth Annual Summer Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 9th from 10:00am - 4:00pm at the Regional Headquarters Sales Plaza located at 5111 Maryland Way.
The office's goal is to have at least 80 donors because 800 pints of blood are needed each day in the Greater Nashville area. Each pint of blood donated can save as many as three lives and also goes to help the Red Cross maintain a ready supply of blood for emergencies.
"We hope lots of people will join us in giving the gift of life in a time when donations are needed most," said Heidenway. "We encourage the public to join our efforts in supporting the Red Cross by calling our office to schedule an appointment time to give blood. This will ensure no one will have to wait in line."
More About The Crye-Leike Brentwood Blood Drive
On Wednesday, June 9th an American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be parked outside of Crye-Leike's Brentwood West sales office - located at 5111 Maryland Way - with a full nursing staff standing by to take good care of all the donors.
For more information or to schedule an appointment to donate blood contact Crye-Leike's Brentwood West Sales Office at 373-2044 and ask for Brokers Jim Heidenway or Lorie Layman.
All donors will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win dinner for two at Logan's Roadhouse.
"In addition for a chance to win a nice dinner at Logan's, anyone who donates blood will have the satisfaction of knowing they are saving a life," said Heidenway.

Realtors Host Second Annual Rummage Sale For Second Harvest & United Way
Local organizations including Second Harvest Food Bank and United Way need the help of businesses and the public now more than ever.
Disasters like the unusual Nashville flooding shine light on why donating to organizations such as United Way and Second Harvest is such an important thing to do. For these organizations, donations are vital to their survival and their ability to help those who need it most in times of terrible tragedy.
For the second year in a row, Crye-Leike, REALTORS Starwood sales office is hosting a rummage sale to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Last year the office of Realtors raised $800 for Second Harvest at their First Annual Rummage Sale. This year Crye-Leike Starwood will host its Second Annual Rummage Sale Charity Bazaar with all proceeds going to United Way and Second Harvest Food Bank.
"Last year's rummage sale was great and brought in many donations; however, we are hoping to raise even more money this year in a time when Nashville charities need it most," said Crye-Leike Affiliate Broker and Starwood Office Administrator Wanda Batson. "Our office hopes to have the public's help with creating a larger rummage sale this June."
Crye-Leike Starwood encourages the public to bring donations for the rummage sale to its office from 8:00am to 5:00pm during normal business hours. Donations can be dropped off at Crye-Leike's Starwood sales center located at 12647 Old Hickory Boulevard in Nashville.
"Our office is accepting rummage sale donations of furniture, clothing, household items, appliances, lawn furniture and much more," said Batson. "We are also collecting monetary and non-perishable food items for Second Harvest and United Way."
Crye-Leike Starwood invites everyone to stop by the rummage sale on Saturday, June 5th, from 8am to 5pm where the office parking lot will turn into one big charity bazaar. There will be a rummage sale, refreshments, games, fun for kids including a balloon artist and face tattoos, and fun for all ages.
Cash for gold and silver will be given away from 10am-5pm courtesy of Goldgirl Events - www.goldgirlevents.com. Goldgirl Events Representative Jenny Thayer will be at the rummage sale purchasing the public's gold or silver and donating 15% of the proceeds to Second Harvest Food Bank and United Way.
"It will be a fun day for everyone and a great way to donate to two wonderful Nashville charities," said Batson.

Realtors Taking On The Battle Against Cancer
JACKSON, TN., - Realtors know the importance of teamwork. Each transaction demands the involvement and cooperation of dozens of people to have a successful property sale or purchase. That work experience and a genuine spirit to give back to the community has motivated a group of local Realtors to launch their 1st annual 5K Run/Walk to benefit the American Cancer Society.
"We've formed a task force in our office and call ourselves the "Crye-Leike Cancer Crushers" which came pretty naturally to most of us," said Neill Bartlett, a Realtor with Crye-Leike Blue Skies Real Estate. "Many of us, if not all of us have been affected by this dreaded disease and in the past year I lost both my father and uncle to cancer."
Bartlett's desire, to turn his personal experience into something positive, led him and others at Blue Skies to get behind the Run/Walk. All the money they raise will go towards the American Cancer Society's annual ?Relay For Life' fundraiser.
"This event makes perfect sense since for many years the Central West Tennessee Association of Realtors (CWTAR) has been a long-standing partner and fundraiser for the Relay For Life which funds cancer research and support services for those battling the disease and their families," said Bartlett. "If one person can make a difference then there's no telling what an entire office of Realtors can do."
Bartlett believes in the power of fundraisers to offer both a sense of hope for those waging the fight to beat cancer and to generate money to pay for the often expensive treatments and services.
"A very good client of our office and a personal friend of mine was diagnosed with colon cancer last year," said Bartlett. "After many fundraisers and much personal strength displayed by him he is now cancer free. There is always hope."
During the course of any given year the Realtors of Crye-Leike Blue Skies support many causes as a way of giving back to the community that supports their livelihoods. This time, the motivation seems far more personal to them and to so many in the greater Jackson community.
"As Realtors we are not just here to be a service to our clients," said Bartlett. " We are here to be of service to our communities and our office is totally behind ?Crushing Cancer' at every opportunity we get."
Blue Skies agents have already secured their first corporate donation for the upcoming event. TruGreen lawn care franchise owner Michael Cook is committing a gift of $1,000 toward the ?fighting cancer' cause.
"Michael is a valued client and friend of Blue Skies," said Bartlett. "We appreciate both his support and very generous donation to get behind the fight against cancer and give back to the community."
More About The Crye-Leike Blue Skies 5K Run/Walk
The Crye-Leike Blue Skies 1st Annual 5k Run/Walk will be held Saturday, March 27th with a 9:00am start-time at the Blue Skies office located at 3021 Highway 45 Bypass, (next to Super Storage & First Class Limousines.) Pre-Registration is $20.00 and the day of the event is $23.00. Trophies will be awarded in many categories and an event t-shirt is available to the first 100 people who register. Wilson County Crye-Leike Realtors Give The Gift Of Life
MT. JULIET, TN., - Giving back to the community they serve has always been a priority for the sales associates in Crye-Leike, REALTORS Mt. Juliet and Lebanon branch offices.
Both of the offices recently held a blood drive for the American Red Cross.
On Wednesday, March 3, Crye-Leike's Lebanon agents invited a blood mobile to their office encouraging the public to join them in giving the gift of life.
"With all of the tragic events in the world currently, God just laid it on my heart to have a Blood Drive," said Tracy Bowman, Crye-Leike Lebanon Realtor and Blood Drive Coordinator. "I felt this was something that we could do to really help the community and possibly save some lives."
Crye-Leike's Lebanon Blood Drive brought in 16 donors and collected 16 pints of blood with a chance to save as many as 48 lives.
"The Red Cross folks were great to work with from start to finish, and we hope to host another blood drive in the future," said Bowman.
Only one day later on Thursday, March 4, Crye-Leike's Mt. Juliet agents held their annual spring blood drive.
Each fall and spring the Realtors invite the American Red Cross Blood Mobile to park outside of their sales office with hopes of increasing the number of donors they had at the previous blood drive.
"Our office staff and agents work very hard to make it easy for the community to give blood by hosting a drive twice a year," said Betty Robinson, Crye-Leike Mt. Juliet Realtor and Blood Drive Coordinator. "I am always amazed when I come into the office the day after a blood drive and the agents and staff ask me ?how many donors did we get.' That makes me know our office really cares!!"
Crye-Leike Mt. Juliet's Spring 2010 blood drive brought in 27 pints of blood with each pint able to save as many as three lives and help the American Red Cross maintain a ready blood supply for emergencies.
"We had a terrific blood drive and a fantastic day for it," said Robinson. "The days prior to the blood drive were cold and gloomy days but the day of the drive the sun came out and the temperature climbed to 50 degrees bringing lots of folks out to give blood!"
As a way of thanking all the donors, the Realtors and office staff always pool their monies, time and talent together to provide a nice lunch for everyone who donates blood - and this spring's blood drive was no exception.
"We make it easy for the public to stop in and donate during a busy day by rewarding them with a fresh and hot meal for lunch," said Robinson. "This time we served up our favorite comfort foods including beef stew, cabbage stew, white chili, chicken and dumplings, cornbread cakes, and several dessert cakes."
Crye-Leike's Mt. Juliet Realtors are already looking forward to their next blood drive they plan to host in the fall of 2010.
"I was thrilled to have 27 pints of blood donated to start the year off with," said Robinson. "If we get 43 in the fall we will have a record 70 pints donated for this year. That would be the most we have ever had - and that's our goal!"
Crye-Leike Realtors in Lebanon and Mt. Juliet extend a special thanks to everyone who stopped by the offices to donate blood.

Wilson County Realtors Invite The Public To Join Them In Giving The Gift Of Life
MT. JULIET, TN., - Realtors work with buyers and sellers in the community everyday - and it's no surprise that many agents take time out of their schedules on several occasions during the year to give back to those same communities.
Giving back to the community has always been an important goal for the sales associates in Crye-Leike, REALTORS Mt. Juliet and Lebanon offices and they are at it again.
Crye-Leike Agents in the company's Lebanon office will kick things off hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Wednesday, March 3rd from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
The Agents in Crye-Leike's Mt. Juliet office will host their first of two blood drives for 2010 on Thursday, March 4th from 11:00 am until 4pm.
An American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be parked outside of each office providing a convenient way for the Realtors and the community to give the gift of life.
"We feel this is a very worthy cause for our community," said Mt. Juliet Blood Drive Coordinator and Crye-Leike Realtor Betty Robinson. "It's been my pleasure to organize the blood drives for our office the past few years. With the help of our entire office and the public who come out to donate, the blood drives we have are always a huge success."
Appointments are now being accepted for the blood drives and Realtors are encouraging the public to call the offices in advance for an appointment so they can accommodate as many donors as possible and ensure no one will have to wait in line.
"We want to encourage the public to stop by our offices and give the gift of life," said Robinson. "Each pint of blood donated can save as many as three lives and also goes to help the Red Cross maintain a ready supply of blood for emergencies. Locally, 800 pints of blood are needed each day in the Greater Nashville area."

Brentwood Property Management Team Helps Homeless At Nashville?s Rescue Mission
The property management team at Crye-Leike, REALTORS in Brentwood is dedicated to assisting clients in managing their rental homes and properties on a daily basis - but the team recently took some time out of their busy schedules to assist people without a home in Nashville.
Crye-Leike Managing Broker Ben Claybaker took his office to the Nashville Rescue Mission for a ?team building' day where they could give back and serve the community.
"I felt this would not only strengthen our team but also serve the homeless of Nashville," said Claybaker. "It was an incredible experience and truly a life changing day for all of us. I loved watching the office bond in a way we never have before."
After a great day at Nashville's Rescue Missions, Claybaker believes volunteering at non-profit organizations makes a great ?team building' day for any office and he hopes to inspire other companies to serve the community like his team did.
"So many of our employees had great things to say about the day." Claybaker adds. "We will definitely be volunteering another day of our time in the near future."
Crye-Leike's Tamara Bishop said, "I am truly thankful for being allowed an opportunity to give back. Seeing all those people at the Mission reminded me of how extremely blessed I really am."
The day at the Nashville Rescue Mission inspired Crye-Leike Associate Romney Hill so much that she decided to be a repeat volunteer.
"It was a great day of working together as a team to help others," said Hill. "I really enjoyed helping the Nashville Rescue Mission and plan to volunteer with the ladies mission there. I appreciate working for a company and office where some time is set aside to give back to our local community."

The Realtors invite the public to join their efforts in supporting the Toys For Tots program by dropping by the office with new and unwrapped toys. They hope to get the public's help in providing a large number of toys to kids who might not have Christmas presents without the help of others.

We hope to get the community's help in providing lots of toys because we want this Christmas to be a good one for all the kids."

Crye-Leike Manager Crunches Numbers By Day And Helps Children Day And Night
MEMPHIS, TN., - Accounting Departments in Memphis do the usual business of keeping track of revenue and expenses - cutting payroll checks and keeping an eye towards saving money along the way. The Accounting Department at Crye-Leike, REALTORS Corporate Headquarters does all of that too - and then some.
What makes the accounting team at the city's largest real estate firm special - and one Manager in particular - is a level of generosity that's become contagious.
Inside the Crye-Leike Quail Hollow office Accounting Manager Lynda Drake has gained a reputation as a ?money cruncher' determined to make the holidays brighter each year for the children in the care of Youth Villages. You could describe Drake as the Mrs. Claus of Crye-Leike.
"I would hardly consider myself a Mrs. Claus," said Drake. "It is true most everyone knows about my passion for Youth Villages and with the help of other staff here in the accounting department we spend much of our spare time - this time of year especially - accumulating gifts of all kinds with a goal of raising more money for Youth Villages than we did the year before."
The merchandise Drake gathers is the result of her ability to buy, beg and barter with a variety of local retailers and companies - getting items for pennies on the dollar or just for the asking. Over the years - she's developed long-standing and loyal relationships with many who ?fill her wish list' with everything from pen/paper sets, stuffed animals, unique pottery and toys to amazing event tickets, autographed items, and gift cards.
"A pen/paper set that might cost ten dollars or more in a retail setting - we often get for free or for pennies," said Drake. "Little by little our inventory builds, especially as we get closer to the holidays. We know our Realtors and loyal friends love supporting our cause because they know their money goes to support the children of Youth Villages."
Crye-Leike's and Drake's commitment to fundraise for Youth Villages has been going strong for more than two decades. Five years ago she and her accounting team took it up a notch by starting a Silent Auction & Raffle. The event annually generates in excess of $10-thousand dollars.
The 6th Annual Silent Auction & Raffle is slated to start on Monday, November 16th and will include more than 200 gift baskets with items donated by Amit's Hallmark, a Limited Edition 2008 Tennessee Titans Pro Bowlers Print and a 16 person Suite for the Memphis Tigers vs. S.E. Missouri game December 16th at the Fed-Ex Forum courtesy of the Commercial Appeal. There will be amazing autographed items, great ticket packages, and gifts cards galore.
"The number and level of donated items for this years auction is unbelievable," said Drake. "A lot of phone calling and a little begging sometimes comes into play - but we are so humbled by the generosity of those who have donated to our cause in the spirit of helping children. If that makes people want to call me the Crye-Leike Mrs. Claus - I'll accept that title with honor."
About The Crye-Leike Silent Auction & Raffle For Youth Villages
Auction items will be on display from Monday, November 16th thru Friday, November 20th at the Crye-Leike Corporate Headquarters located at 6525 N. Quail Hollow in Memphis.
