Crye-Leike Names Eddie Ferrell General Manager of Middle Tennessee Region
Nashville, Tenn: Crye-Leike Real Estate Services announces that Eddie Ferrell has been named the general manager of Crye-Leike's Middle Tennessee region. Ferrell will be responsible for overseeing the various divisions throughout the region and helping with the efforts to increase office growth and productivity.
Ferrell began his real estate career with Crye-Leike in 2002 with the Clarksville - Sango office. Since then, he has managed the Spring Hill and Midtown branch offices, and he most recently helped open the East Nashville office in January 2018, which he will continue to manage in addition to the general manager position.
Ferrell is considered a market expert in new construction, rehabs, investment properties and all single-family home purchases and sales. Wanting to remain involved with local real estate matters, Ferrell has served as a former board member, chairperson and/or director on numerous charity, fundraising and REALTOR boards. His dedication to this industry, the Nashville community and his clients has allowed Ferrell to earn Crye-Leike's Circle of Excellence award-the highest honor given by the company-and become a member of the Lifetime Multi-Million Dollar Club. Crye-Leike Continues Georgia Expansion with Opening of Villa Rica Branch Office
Villa Rica, GA: Crye-Leike Real Estate Services announces that it has opened a new real estate office in Villa Rica, GA, located at 354 West Bankhead Highway. The Villa Rica location makes for the 18th office to open in Georgia since Crye-Leike first expanded into the Peach State in 2000.

2017 Annual Sandestin Conference Sports Theme Was a Definite Touchdown
Touchdown and score for another successful company conference held at the beautiful beaches of Sandestin, Florida. Over 400 sales associates and Crye-Leike employees from Crye-Leikes nine state regions gathered together to enjoy fun filled activities and to catch up on the latest company news, training, and industry marketing and technology trends.
The three day conference kicked off on the evening of Tuesday the 17th with a high-spirited welcome rally and cocktail reception. Many of the branch locations were ready to show their enthusiasm by dressing in clever costumes inspired by Crye-Leikes Get in the Game sports theme. The night was filled with plenty of excitement and laughter as attendees mingled over great food and drink provided by the Sandestin Hilton.
Crye-Leike co-founders, Harold Crye and Dick Leike, picked up the following morning with a welcome introduction to all attendees and a quick update on the latest company news and stats. Announcements were made of new office locations in Douglasville, GA; Gainesville, GA; Dawsonville, GA; Scottsville, KY; Morristown, TN; Sparta, TN; Fort Walton Beach, FL; San Juan, Puerto Rico and in Rogers, AR. The conference featured guest speakers, Dan Elzer, President of The Training Academy, and Alex Milshteyn, who was recently voted one of the Top 30 Realtors in the nation Under 30, both of which gave motivating and informative speeches on tips for agents on being successful in the real estate industry.
The afternoons were filled with a wealth of informative training sessions to include a variety of social media training by Crye-Leikes Elisa Moss and Angie Vandenbergh. There was no shortage of extracurricular activities for attendees to enjoy, to include a volleyball and golf tournament, late night jam session near the beach, and an all star talent show.

Crye-Leike Expands Outside Continental United States
Memphis, Tenn. (July 7, 2017) - Crye-Leike Real Estate Services, the nation's fifth-largest independent residential real estate firm, is expanding outside of the continental United States for the first time in its 40-year history, with a new franchised office in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Santiago Coll-Camalez, a veteran independent real estate broker in San Juan, is now the owner and managing broker of the new Crye?Leike franchise in San Juan, the capital of and largest city in Puerto Rico, an island commonwealth that is a territory of the United States. About 1 million people live in the San Juan area.
Coll-Camalez has been a real estate broker there since 2004, operating as an independent, said Keith Sullivan, president of Crye?Leike Franchises and chief marketing officer for Crye-Leike.
Most of the major real estate brands familiar to Americans on the continental U.S. are active in Puerto Rico; however, the market also has many small independent real estate firms. Coll-Camalez's small formerly independent brokerage has three full-time and one part-time agent, with plans to grow to about 14 agents, Sullivan said.
Sullivan said the company would like to have more franchised stores in Puerto Rico. "We've had some discussions with others in Puerto Rico for additional offices. Nothing has transpired yet but we'd like to expand our presence there," he said.
"One of the main reasons to affiliate with Crye-Leike is to better compete in the local market, particularly incoming/outbound referral opportunities through our network of agents as well as through our international relocation network, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World," he said, explaining why becoming a Crye-Leike franchisee may be attractive to more independent brokers in Puerto Rico. Sullivan says the real estate transaction in Puerto Rico is conducted in a similar fashion. Additionally, tax incentives (Act 20 and 22) were created to lure wealthy investors to the island. One difference: Spanish, not English, is the most commonly used language spoken in Puerto Rico. English is also widely spoken. Coll-Camalez' Crye?Leike franchise is "fully bilingual," Sullivan said.
In 2012, Puerto Rico passed new tax laws, known as Act 20 and Act 22, that make the island territory a tax haven for U.S. citizens who become residents of Puerto Rico. The laws shield new residents residing in Puerto Rico for at least half of the year from paying most federal income taxes.
An alumnus of John Carroll University, Coll-Camalez received his insurance license in 1982 and his real estate license in 2004. His real estate expertise includes helping buyers and sellers, property management, investment properties, and foreclosures for single-family homes, and excess and surplus property. Tim Brewer of Crye-Leike, Realtors has been named principal & managing broker of its Hendersonville branch office, announced Chief Executive Officer Harold E. Crye.
Brewer, a Hendersonville resident, will be responsible for managing and recruiting a sales force in his office that lists and sells residential and commercial real estate in Middle Tennessee. Crye-Leike's Oldest Real Estate Agent Retires at 93: Served in WWII under General Patton
Memphis, Tenn. (April 6, 2016) Crye-Leike, Realtors paid tribute to its oldest real estate agent, 93-year-old RJ Wilbanks who retired from the company and the real estate industry after 35 years.
Born and raised in Ripley, Miss., Wilbanks proudly says that his mother didn't give him a first name, but just wanted the initials, RJ, to be named after his grandfather on his mother's side, Robert Jefferson Medford.
Having initials for a first name may be easy to remember, but Wilbanks shared a few stories that come along with it to the well-wishers at his company retirement party. Like the time when he tried to enlist in the United States Army.
"The officer asked me what my real name was and I honestly said that my mother didn't give me a first name, just the initials," says Wilbanks. The officer proceeded to say that Wilbanks's mother was going to have to give him a first name other than RJ.
The 21-year-old civilian respectfully but eagerly replied, "Well, if you wont enlist me because I dont have a first name, then I have a bus ticket in my hand and can go back home right now."
His Experiences in the Army. Despite being RJ, and not Robert Jefferson, the United States Army enlisted him anyway. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky Army base in March of 1944 where he was trained as a tank crew member.
Wilbanks served as a tank crew member in a light tank of the 21st Tank Battalion of the 10th Armord Division of the Third Army. As a crew member, he operated the machine gun in the bow of the tank against enemy personnel and vehicles.
He participated in three major campaigns during World War II and holds the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement, serving an 18-month European theatre.
Those wars were the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium; The Ardennes: Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhineland, which Wilbanks talks about the most because it was commanded by the great General George Smith Patton Jr. General Patton led the famous United States Third Army across Europe in World War II following the Allied invasion of Normandy, France in June of 1944.
"He's a true living hero with a mind still sharp as a tack," says Crye-Leike General Manager Steve Brown as he witnessed RJ remembering vivid details of his service in the military.
"In the fall of 1944, while fighting in the Battle of the Rhineland, I had to replace the tank driver who got hit with shrapnel," says Wilbanks. "During the Battle of the Bulge, I remember our troop being surrounded by Germans for 10 to 12 days. Another time, I was on night patrol in a small village, when I heard the Germans sneaking in. I stopped them by opening fire, alerting the guards."
The men and women who fought and won the great conflict are now mostly in their 90s like RJ Wilbanks. They are dying quickly at a rate of approximately 430 a day, according to the U.S. Veterans Administration (USVA) figures. During World War II, 16 million Americans served their nation. Today, that number stands under a million, says the USVA, and by 2036, it is estimated there will be no living veterans of World War II left to recount their experiences.
Wilbanks' 35 Years with Crye-Leike. A resident of Olive Branch, Miss., Wilbanks earned several sales achievement awards with Crye-Leike during his 35 years as a sales associate. He honorably added, "I worked by the Code of Ethics and high standards which Crye-Leike sets for its agents."
There was much admiration shared at the retirement party for Wilbanks. Three different Crye-Leike managing brokers were present who had been his sales manager over his 35 years of service to the company: Robert Clay, Jimmie Hopson, Jr., Margie Mays and CF Moore.
Hopson described Wilbanks as a true professional who he has known since he joined Crye-Leike in April 1990. "I admired RJ because he supported me when I became the managing broker at Crye-Leike's Whitehaven office, even though I was a lot younger and he had been in the business longer," says Hopson. "RJ always offered inspiration and wisdom to our office. He was respected by all agents."
At age 92, Wilbanks said that he decided to slow down. His last real estate deal was in August 2015. "With technology advancing faster than I could learn it and my cornea transplant keeping me from seeing the computer screen very well, I was relying on my real estate friends too much," says Wilbanks. "So, I decided to switch to working with Referral Center, Inc. which offers real estate agents supplemental income for referrals."

Crye-Leike Officially Establishes Regional Headquarters in East Tenn. after 4.5 years
March 29, 2016) - Tennessee-based Crye-Leike, the nation's fourth largest privately-held residential real estate brokerage firm and largest in Tennessee and the Mid-South, has officially established an East Tennessee regional headquarters in Knoxville after first entering the market in February 2011.
"With having a market presence in this region for 4.5 years now, our purchase of a headquarters building should prove to Knoxville that Crye-Leike is here to stay," said Chief Executive Officer Harold E. Crye who intends to continue to grow Crye-Leike by adding two to three more branch offices in Farragut and Oak Ridge.
Its headquarters office is now located at 9539 Kingston Pike in the Franklin Square area. It will serve as its Knoxville West branch office as well as house administrative offices for the region, including commercial, property management and relocation services.
Crye-Leike's East Tennessee Region has seven other branch offices with 140+ sales associates in Athens, Cookeville, Johnson City, Loudon (Tellico Village), Pigeon Forge/Sevierville, Powell (North Knoxville) and West Knoxville, along with five franchise offices in Crossville, Greeneville, Maryville Morristown and Rogersville.
This headquarters building, previously a law office, was purchased by Crye in January 2016 for $1.05 million. The one-story building and parking lot were completely renovated to meet building codes. With over 6,000 sq. ft., the building now offers triple the amount of office space it once had at its first Knoxville branch office, leased office space at 731 Campbell Station Road in Farragut which is now closed.
"Crye-Leike typically does not lease office space," said General Manager Melonie Carideo. "It just took us a few years to find the right location for our regional headquarters. This newly-renovated building gives our current 40-agent base room to grow to as many sales associates as we need, along with a welcoming lobby and two conference rooms."
The newly-decorated Crye-Leike building is being shared by its affiliate company, Realty Title, offering its sales associates and customers convenient title and closing services.
Carideo noted that Crye-Leike's real estate offices are not being designed like they used to. "Ten years ago, you would see our real estate offices having a desk or private office for every agent affiliated in that branch office," she said. "Today, many Crye-Leike agents work remotely from home. So, Crye-Leike doesnt need the massive office square footage it used to have."
